Open the till

Count the float and open the drawer at the start of the day.

At the start of the day, open the till and count the cash in the drawer. Type what you counted by denomination.

That count is the day’s float. It is kept and never changed afterwards; a mistake is fixed by a later count that refers to it.

Then sell as usual. See Close the till for the end of the day.
